It Starting With Listening
La Familia Sana partnered with local artist Blanca Molina to facilitate a series of workshops with Cloverdale High School students asking what they love about their community—and what they hope it will become.
Students explored questions about health, housing, education, agriculture, arts and culture, transportation, environmental stewardship, and representation. Through conversation, drawing, writing, and creative exercises, they shared their vision for the future of Cloverdale.
Turning Ideas
Into Art
Those conversations became inspiration.
Using the students' ideas, artist Blanca Molina created multiple original mural concepts, each reflecting the themes that emerged during the workshops.
The designs were then shared with the community, who voted for the concept that best represented Cloverdale's spirit and future.
The winning design became the mural you see today.
Painted By The Community
A mural about community should be created by community.
Blanca led the painting process alongside local teens and volunteers, transforming a blank wall into one of downtown Cloverdale's newest landmarks.
Every brushstroke represents the creativity, collaboration, and pride of the people who helped bring this vision to life.
Meet the Artist
Blanca Molina
Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, Blanca Molina moved to Sonoma County when she was five years old. Her work blends influences from her Mexican heritage with her experiences growing up in Northern California, creating artwork that celebrates culture, identity, and community.
For Saludos from Cloverdale, Blanca transformed hundreds of ideas gathered from local students into a vibrant mural that reflects both the spirit of today's Cloverdale and the hopes for its future.
