La Familia Sana is proud to welcome our newest Board member, Rocio Rodriguez.
Let's get to know her better!
Tell us about yourself:
I am an Ecuadorian-American public health practitioner with experience in project management, program monitoring and evaluation, community-participatory methods to center and prioritize communities of focus, coalition building, and emergency preparedness and response. I thrive in the intersection of social justice and public health, and am interested in policy change to address forced migration, immigration rights, asylum advocacy, gender-based violence (GBV), and maternal mortality and morbidity in the U.S. and humanitarian settings.
I am my ancestors greatest dream because....
I have stay connected to my Ecuadorian roots and culture even while living in a different country.
Why did you join the La Familia Sana board?
I believe in the mission, and I have a soft heart for north county. I've seen a lot of what Cloverdale and Geyserville have gone through because of the fires. I'm inspired by and respect how the community has resisted these challenges put on them.
What advice do you have for High School aged Rocio?
Don't sweat the small stuff. Things will happen in good time.
Do you have any pets?
I have a chatty, loving tabby named Gracie.
Welcome, Rocio, we are honored to have you on the La Familia Sana board!
